The 38th annual Kalamalka Rotary auction in Vernon nearly reached its goal of $200,000 this year.
The Dream Auction collected $155,473 this year with online bidders vying for prizes ranging from a ride in a private jet to a tattoo gift certificate.
“The success of the Dream Auction results from the generosity of local business and individuals who donate items, experiences or services, our sponsors and to those who bid on these items,” Rotary club president Tom Christensen said in a news release.
Although the auction didn't meet its goal of $200,000, the club is still accepting private donations on its website here.
"Donations were especially appreciated this year, as the economy is slowing, and some businesses are struggling," Christensen said.
The online auction had more than 250 products and services available, according to the release.
“All the money raised at the Dream Auction is directed to worthy community and international projects each year,” Christensen said. “Over these past 38 years, Kal Rotary has donated a cumulative total of over $4,989,473 to local and international non-profit organizations.”
Funding requests for the Dream Auction can be completed on the Rotary website. The grants are aimed at projects in the Vernon area focused on parks and recreation, arts and science, education, environment or healthcare, according to the website.
