A drug checking alert has been issued for Kamloops by Interior Health today, Sept. 25.
According to Interior Health, the drug comes with a high overdose risk, and those who do overdose may not fully respond to naloxone.
The drug, called "down," is described as a light yellow or beige granular substance and contains a type of benzodiazepine and fentanyl.
Drug checking can be done at ASK Wellness in person from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.
To drop in on Monday or Thursday, text 250-299-7219 to book an appointment between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Users can also drop-off their drug and receive test results the same day Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Instructions for sample drop off are provided on site.
The Interior Health warning is in effect until Oct. 2, 2020.
