Interior Health has declare an outbreak over at a pair of Kamloops group homes.

Highridge Home and Singh House, located within the same building, had eight staff members and five residents who tested positive for COVID-19, according to an Interior Health press release.

The homes are for patients who require 24-hour support, and they are operated privately by Prima Enterprises. The month-long outbreak was declared over today, March 11. The outbreak was initially declared on Feb. 9.

"We are already seeing the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccination, which is protecting more of our most vulnerable members of our communities," chief medical health officer Dr. Albert de Villiers said the release.

Interior Health reminds the public to "remain vigilant" and continue following public health orders as vaccinations are still being rolled out.
