Two group homes in Kamloops have been declared COVID-19 outbreak sites by Interior Health.

Six employees at Highridge Home and Singh House have tested positive for the virus, according to an Interior Health press release.

The group homes are located located on separate floors of the same building. The private facilities are operated by Prima Enterprises for people who require 24-hour support.

Public health officials have conducted contact tracing and those at risk are in self-isolation.

"Interior Health communicable disease specialists and a clinical operations team will continue to monitor the situation and additional infection control measures have been implemented to prevent further transmission," reads the release.

Outbreak protocols are in place and visitors will not be allowed at either group home for the safety of the residents.
