iN VIDEO: Vernon bagpiper takes to deck to serenade the neighbourhood during self-isolation

While footage of Italians singing from their balconies has been viewed around the world, one Vernon resident is taking to the bagpipes to see him through two weeks of self-quarantine, and no doubt put a smile on the faces of his neighbours.

Tom Skinner has been playing his bagpipes from the deck of his house and sharing the sound of the pipes with his neighbours. He posted a video to Facebook, March 24, of his performance of Geritol Kid #7.

Skinner also announced he, along with other players from the Kalamalka Highlanders Pipe Band, will be playing in tribute to health care workers, leaders and people working in essential services at 7 p.m., following the lead of Vancouverites.

"I am far from being bored. I have lots to do and lots of people to contact," Skinner wrote on his social media post. "I am going to keep playing my bagpipes every day of (self-quarantine)."

Skinner adds, "it's still a beautiful world out there. Stay safe, keep your distance, and we will all celebrate when this is over."
