Vancouver residents have been out on their balconies applauding the hospital workers and first responders for their work treating and preventing the spread of COVID-19.

According to a few people who have shared videos, every day at 7 p.m., people have been showing their support for health care workers during their shift change.

Health care workers on the front lines of the pandemic have become our new heroes. Many are taking to social media to show their support and acknowledge the sacrifices these essential care providers are making daily to help flatten the curve and save lives.

Many doctors and nurses have had to isolate themselves during the pandemic, as their exposure to the virus while treating patients puts their families at risk.

The cheering, clapping and banging echoes loudly through the streets downtown as hundreds join in to show their appreciation.
