What began as a small event to entertain kids at Halloween during pandemic restrictions is quickly growing into a monstrous one.

The Haunting of Falkland is getting set up to surprise, frighten and entertain the masses next month.

“The first year 450 people showed up and last year that number was 1,500,” one of the event coordinators Dean Trumbley said. “This year we are expecting upwards of 4,000 people to come out.”

The Haunting of Falkland is adding spookier new events and improving on last year’s to offer enough for families to spend an entire day immersed in frightening Halloween fun, along with providing friendly activities for the littlest ghosts and goblins.

This by-donation experience is not one the lovers of creep and macabre are going to want to miss.

“The Falkland Pub jumped on board and is running a costume party and masquerade this year,” Trumbley said. "We have moved to a more professional set in the Haunted Hall to provide a much higher quality experience. And there is a paranormal investigation experience for adults.”

Along with the costume contest and Haunted Hall is the Haunted Museum hosting The Nightmare Before Christmas Walkthrough, Creepy Carnival, Ghost Train, card reading and Twisted Church events. Treats and trinkets will be available for shoppers at Halloween Alley at the Falkland Museum and Heritage Park, and a local house decorating contest will be happening.

The hosts of the Canadian TV show True North Paranormal will be conducting ghost hunting adventures in three historic buildings at the Falkland Museum grounds and guests can even join in on the spook hunting or spend a night in a haunted location.

And don’t forget to stop by Hell’s Kitchen for Swamp Water and Test Tube Dogs.

The event, which runs Oct. 21 and 22, and again on Oct. 28 and 28, is also a fundraiser for non-profits in the area and has raised $6,000 to date. Admission is by donation so no families are turned away.
