Robert Brunet is an South Okanagan photographer who has a passion for capturing the beauty of the landscape around him.
While not originally from the valley, Brunet moved to the Okanagan Falls area a year ago and has fallen in love with the natural beauty the landscape has to offer. He said the area has so much natural wonder in terms of scenery and photography.
“You can't point a camera anywhere without getting a good picture. It's just amazing. Every time I go out somewhere, I go, ‘oh my god, this is just heaven’,” he said.
Now retired, Brunet said he now has the time to practice his photography hobby.
Brunet focuses on aerial drone photography, something he said can capture what can't be seen by standing on the ground below.

Brunet takes pride in his photos and shares them wherever he can. While most of his photos are available for viewing on his Facebook page, he also offers free downloadable images that can be printed on canvas to hang.
Residents can ask Brunet for a digital image of their favourite photo and he will send it to them, watermark free, for digital download so they can get them printed up.
“There's no point taking pictures if nobody's going to see them,” Brunet said. “I'm proud of the picture to start with and I want to show them to the people in the area, you know, so that they can enjoy them too. That's why I take photos, is to share them just like an artist when they do a painting. You want as many people as possible to see that painting.”
Brunet also offers his photography for free to tourism organizations and local governments for reports.

He tends to focus on local landmarks in the South Okanagan residents can recognize.
What really brings life to Brunet’s photography is the editing that goes into each photo. He’ll usually spend about half an hour editing one photo, and even strings them together and sometimes adds music.

“That's where most of the magic comes from, you know, in the editing. As long as you've got a nice composition and you shoot it raw. Now you've got a lot of opportunity to really bump up that picture and make it look like it does in your mind's eye. I see what I want to create and I create it.”
For fun, Brunet sometimes likes to add UFOs or ghosts into his photos, just to see if anyone will catch the small details in the image.

Brunet tries to post a photo every day for people to enjoy with their morning coffee in hopes it will brighten up their day.
