The valley bottoms have remained mostly brown in Kamloops and the Okanagan so far this winter but the mountain tops are covered in the white stuff, and some outdoor enthusiasts captured energetic photos of their family members playing in the snow this past week.
Kamloops resident Russel Gallup snapped some vibrant, snowy photos of his son Jaxon Gallup soaring through the air as the pair enjoyed deep powder at Sun Peaks Ski Resort on Dec. 28.
“I got some pretty good photography gear, it’s a fun hobby and my son likes getting his picture taken,” he said. “It’s awesome up there on the hill right now, its dumping snow.”
The father and son duo are often in the mountains dirt biking and mountain biking in the warmer months, and both snowboard in the winter whenever they have the opportunity.
“It’s just great for anyone who is able to get up there and enjoy the fresh air, the snow and sunshine,” he said. “The hill is in great shape, they made more room with a recent expansion so it doesn’t feel packed.”

Almost 13 centimetres of snow is forecast to fall at Sun Peaks Resort on Friday, Jan. 3 while skiers and snowboarders at SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon can expect 9 cm to fall later this week just in time for the weekend, according to snow-forecast.com.
The snow forecast for Big White near Kelowna shows 7 cm falling on Friday and Saturday, while the Apex Mountain Resort near Penticton will see a total of 2 cm on those days.
