The city of Vernon is bustling as families take part in the Vernon Winter Carnival, and some photographers have already snapped some impressive shots.
The Balloon Glow event earlier this week drew a large crowd and made for some colourful photos as darkness fell and luminous balloons took to the sky.
“Around 1,500 people turned out for the balloon glow,” said carnival director Kris Fuller. “We are loving the photos people are sending in.”

Also a delight for the eyes are the giant and intricate snow sculptures from the carnival’s carving competition at Silver Star which can be viewed for at least another week.
“I was just up there with the teams and volunteers, handing out awards,” Fuller said.

The parade that went through town on Feb. 4 was a popular event and made for some interesting captures too.
“Tons of people showed up to the parade, maybe upwards of 5,000,” she said. “People are loving that carnival is back.”
Events continue until Feb. 12.
