Here are the numbers for August and the summer so far:

35.7: Degrees was the hottest day in Kelowna last month, Aug. 26.

1: Other August was hotter than this one in the Central Okanagan and that was in 2022.

11.5: Millimetres of rain fell in Kelowna in August, which is 35 per cent of normal.

22.3: Degrees was the mean temperature in Vernon in August, the second hottest on record.

23.6: Degrees was the mean temperature in Kamloops in August, the third hottest on record.

22.5: Degrees was the mean temperature in Penticton in August, 1.9 degrees above normal.

3: Summers have been hotter than this one in the Okanagan since Environment Canada started recording weather data more than a century ago.

44.9: Millimetres of rain fell in Penticton this summer, the normal is 97 mm.

4: Regions in B.C. have heat warnings for this week, the North Coast, the Fraser Canyon and the North and South Thompson.

2: Days in a row where the high is expected to hit 35 C and the overnight low is more than 18 C which triggers a heat warning.
