PENTICTON - A driver making his way through Penticton and Summerland caught the attention of the police for moving a little too slow last week.

The Summerland detachment received a call of a possible impaired driver around 8:15 a.m., Thursday, March 31, Penticton RCMP media spokesperson Don Wrigglesworth says.

The caller had encountered a black Honda CRV stopped in the middle of the highway. When he went to speak to the driver, the driver claimed he’d just fallen asleep and then drove off.

Several hours later, the same vehicle was reported in Penticton, sitting through three green lights at the intersection of Skaha Lake Road and Green Avenue.

Police were able to locate the vehicle and handed the driver a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition.

He’ll also have to find somewhere else to sleep — police also impounded his vehicle.
