KAMLOOPS - It's going to be a busy spring for the local film industry with some major productions expected to be in Kamloops and area.

Thompson-Nicola Film commissioner Vicci Weller says producers from two upcoming major feature films expect to come to Kamloops soon to shoot footage and some scenes. While she only provided a few details, Weller says it’s likely the shoots will need local actors to play extras for what she calls “action movies geared toward teenagers.”

“One is prepping now and they don’t start shooting for another couple weeks,” she says. Production for the second film is expected to be underway in April.

She says both Kamloops proper and the outlying areas like Cache Creek and Ashcroft will be used as potential movie locations.

Weller says there might be some celebrities heading Kamloops, but she won’t say who.

At the beginning of March, a smaller Canadian film titled Juggernaut will start filming. A potential reality series is also on the horizon.
