Warriors, Gaiters to meet in U Sports women's hockey final on Sunday

ELMIRA, ONTARIO - The Waterloo Warriors have advanced to the Miller Waste U SPORTS women's hockey championship final with a 5-1 semifinal win over the fifth seeded Concordia Stingers on Saturday at Woolwich Memorial Centre.

Brodi Levitt scored twice and added two assists for the eighth-seeded Warriors, who will play the third-seeded Bishop's Gaiters in Sunday's final. The Gaiters edged the Toronto Varsity Blues 2-1 in Saturday's other semifinal.

Gracey Smith, Kassidy McCarthy and Madison Pritchard also scored for the Warriors. McCarthy also had two assists.

Alexandra-Anne Boyer scored for the Stingers, who were outshot 32-27.

The Stingers went 0-for-1 on the power play, while the Warriors were 0-for-3.

Marjorie Bolduc and Noemie Fontaine each had a goal and assist for the Gaiters, who scored both of their goals on the power play. Justine Turcotte had two assists.

Ashley Delahey scored for the second-seeded Varsity Blues, who were outshot 36-26. The Blues went 0-for-6 on the power play, while the Gaiters were 2-for-4.

The Gaiters led 1-0 after the first period and 2-0 heading into the third.

The Varsity Blues and Stingers will play in Sunday's bronze-medal game.
