Words don't really do her justice, the numbers barely do.

Vernon Ultra Athlete Shanda Hill has accomplished/is accomplishing feats only a few other men and women in the world could even contend with.

Below are the numbers from the race she finished yesterday, the South Africa Deca Ultra Triathlon. If those numbers look intimidating, consider she has done this many times before.

  • 279.5: Number of hours to complete the race.
  • 13: How many days those hours were spread over.
  • 12: The number of athletes who set off at the starting line.
  • 1: Number of women to finish the race. Shanda Hill. That's it.
  • 2: Overall placing.
  • 38: Kilometres swam.
  • 1,800: Kilometres cycled.
  • 422: Kilometres ran.
  • 2260: Total distance in kilometres.
  • 1: Major injury.
  • 0: Chance she wasn't in excruciating pain.
  • 2: Shoe sizes, that's how much her feet swell up in a race.
  • 1: Time monkeys raided her racing snacks.
  • 3: Pounds of cookies kept her going.
  • 1: Broken toenail.
  • 9: How many years Hill has been running ultra triathlons.
  • 3: Hours of sleep a night.
  • 3: Hill’s main sponsors (plugs to The Starting Block, Rancho Vignola and Eve-Volve Wellness for supporting local athletes).
  • 80,000: Dollars Hill needs to take on every International Ultra Triathlon Association race on the planet.
  • 41: Days until her next race in Brazil.
  • 1: Great way to follow and support Shanda
