A mudslide has reduced Highway 8 to single-alternating traffic this morning.
Drive B.C is reporting the slide, which spans 3.2 kilometres, occurred between Dot Ranch Cut-Off Rd East and Dot Ranch Cut-Off Road West – between Merritt and Spences Bridge.
There is debris on the road and drivers are told to expect minor delays while the cleanup is underway. Drive B.C.'s next update is not expected until Tuesday, Sept. 20, on the road's condition.
In August, a mudslide flooded a local rancher's property, preventing him from harvesting his hayfields.
His harvests were already stunted this year due to the amount of land and infrastructure damaged in 2021 as a result of the Lytton Creek wildfire in the summer, followed by major flooding last November.

Highway 8 was also severely damaged last year due to the flooding. That section of highway between Merritt and Spences Bridge remains closed as road re-construction is in progress.
