UPDATE: Highway 3 reopened east of Hope after rockslide

PENTICTON - Highway 3 east of Hope has reopened to traffic in both directions.

Drive B.C. reported this afternoon, Dec. 5, the highway reopened after being closed in both directions due to rocks on the road after a slide between the first avalanche gate and Sunshine Valley about 11 kilometres east of Hope.

A geotechnical assessment took place this morning and Drive B.C. announced the highway open around 2:30 p.m.

An alternate route was available via Highway 5 and 5A.
