KAMLOOPS — Police in Kamloops have confirmed there was no firearm involved and no shots were fired after a call came in early this morning suggesting two possible gunshots were heard in a North Kamloops neighbourhood.

Kamloops RCMP responded to the report just after 3 a.m. today, Jan. 7, according to an RCMP media release. After two males were taken into custody for questioning officers have confirmed no shots were fired in the Brocklehurst neighbourhood.

“There had been a verbal argument between a group of men and this may have been the precursor for the one report of shots being fired,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.

Heavily armed officers responded in numbers to the area of Parkcrest Avenue and McLean Street and the area was temporarily secured by police.

The two men who were taken into custody have been released, Shelkie says.
