Officers with the RCMP’s heavily armed emergency response team were called into action last night in Kamloops as part of an ongoing investigation out of Manitoba.
Officers from the Kamloops RCMP detachment’s targeted enforcement unit joined forces with the tactical team to arrest man in the 110 block of Rogers Way in the lower Aberdeen neighbourhood yesterday evening, June 20, according an RCMP media release.
The suspect was arrested without incident and is being held in custody.
“Using the specialized skills of (emergency response team) and (targeted enforcement unit) helps keep the arrest safer for everyone involved as well as the public and those related in the investigation,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier said in the release.
The investigation was lead by Manitoba RCMP’s major crime unit. No details have been released by police about why the man was wanted or the nature of the investigation.
Kamloops RCMP said no further information will be released at this time but promised to provide more details “in the coming days.”
