A woman was killed in Penticton on Saturday and RCMP say an arrest was made at the scene.
Officers were called to an apartment building in the 600-block of Lakeshore Drive in Penticton on Saturday, June 7, according to an RCMP media release. RCMP didn't release the time of the call.
"Officers located a woman with a significant gun-shot wound who was deceased inside an apartment building," reads the release. RCMP say her death is an isolated incident and there is not concern for the public's safety.
Police made an arrest but released the person as officers continue to investigate. RCMP aren't identifying the victim saying the investigation is still in its early stages.
Penticton RCMP’s Investigative Services are leading the investigation.
“This is a tragic event. We would like to offer our condolences to the victim’s friends and family at this time. We have engaged our victim services team and they are supporting those in need,” Staff Sgt. Scott Hanry, Penticton RCMP Investigative Services Commander, said in the release. “We would like to thank the public for their support as we continue to investigate this incident.”
