Head-on collision near Kamloops under investigation

September 14, 2019 - 9:15 AM

KAMLOOPS - Police are investigating a serious accident near Kamloops last night that sent two people to hospital in critical condition.

Just before 6 p.m. a small SUV crossed into oncoming traffic on Highway 5 North at the Old Highway 5 junction, according to RCMP Sgt Brandon Buliziuk.

“Upon arrival on scene, two vehicles were observed to have collided. A small SUV with two occupants was noted to have left the noted intersection to enter onto Highway 5 North. A Northbound pickup truck with two occupants then collided with the SUV,” Buliziuk said. “Upon extraction from the vehicle, the two occupants of the SUV were transported by ground and air ambulances to medical facilities for urgent care. Both remain in critical condition at this time. The two occupants of the pickup truck were assessed at scene and are physically unharmed.”

A collision reconstructionist is aiding the investigation.
