KAMLOOPS – The Greyhound bus depot in Kamloops is staying put, for now.
The company has confirmed it has extended its lease at 725 Notre Dame Dr. until they can find a more permanent location.
“It was extended through October 2018,” Greyhound spokesperson Lanesha Gipson says. “We have not found another location at this time, but we are a looking for a more long term plan.”
Last year, Greyhound filed an application with the Passenger Transportation Board to reduce or cancel various routes throughout the province. The company proposed to reduce service on a number of routes including Kamloops to Kelowna, Kelowna to the Alberta border, Kelowna to Vancouver and Vancouver to Osoyoos.
For those routes, Greyhound would like to reduce trip frequency from a minimum of twice a day, to a minimum of twice a week.
Gipson says there is a possibility of a public transit-style pickup and drop off for Greyhound passengers.
“We don’t have any plans solidified right now, but there is a possibility to do that. We’re looking into all of that right now," she says.
