Fourteenth win in a row for Kelowna Rockets

VANCOUVER - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 4-2 on Saturday night in Vancouver, winnings its 14th straight game and improving to a WHL-best 30-3-0-2 on the season.

Four different players hit the scoresheet for the Rockets and Jordon Cooke earned the win in net, as the Rockets kicked off four straight road games on the right foot.

Colton Heffley, Tyson Baillie, Cole Linaker and Madison Bowey scored for the Rockets, who beat Kamloops 7-1 at home on Friday night.

The road victory is also the Rockets 14th straight, extending a new franchise record and the club has also won 23 of its past 24 games.

On Saturday in Vancouver, the Giants opened the scoring after a scoreless first period, but power play goals from Heffley and Baillie gave Kelowna a 2-1 lead through two and they added two more in the third for the win.

Kelowna was 3-for-6 on the power play while its top-rated penalty killing unit held Vancouver to an 0-for-4.

The Rockets now head to Portland for two games with the Winterhawks as the top two teams in the WHL will meet twice in Portland, beginning Tuesday night with a New Year's Eve battle. Kelowna and Portland will also play Jan. 2 while the Rockets will play in Vancouver Jan. 3.

Kelowna returns home Jan. 4 to host the Giants at Prospera Place.
