Efforts to stop a Kamloops man in a stolen van yesterday, Jan. 23, resulted in four RCMP vehicles being damaged.
An officer patrolling in the area of Fortune Drive and Sydney Avenue at about 3:45 p.m. spotted a white van that he recognized as having been stolen earlier in the day.
“Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Heffley Louis Creek Road and four police vehicles were consequently damaged in the process,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, said in a news release.
“Luckily, no one was hurt during the collisions and a suspect was safely taken into custody.”
Michael Julien Bourlon, 51, of Kamloops, faces six charges including dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to stop for police, possession of stolen property, assaulting a police officer with a weapon and two counts of resisting/obstructing a police officer.
He remains in custody waiting for a bail hearing.
