Former Vernon RCMP officer sanctioned for sexual misconduct

A former Vernon RCMP officer will forfeit nearly a month of her salary for sexual misconduct after another officer complained that she touched him inappropriately.

The allegations tried by an internal RCMP committee found Const. Valerie Little touched the officer twice, once “squeezing his genitals” and another time, touching his thigh. She also made unspecified inappropriate comments.

The incidents occurred in 2009 and 2010 and the RCMP Code of Conduct findings were made Jan. 29, 2020 but was revealed today by Global News.

Little was posted to Vernon at that time. In 2015, she testified against her former husband, who was charged with possession of child pornography in a contentious trial.

Little was ordered to forfeit 20 days’ pay and must work under supervision for one year, among other sanctions. She will also be restricted from any posting that would put her in contact with her unidentified victim.
