SUN PEAKS – Based on the success of this season’s event, Foam Fest will return to the B.C. Interior, but the race will be at Sun Peaks for the next three years instead of Silver Star.

This year the fun run, made up of five kilometres of obstacles, slip and slides and lots of foam, took place at Silver Star Mountain Resort on June 13. Next year the event will take place at Sun Peaks, from June 18 to 19, and will be the first stop on a 12-stop cross-Canada tour.

The organizing committee, 365 Sports Group, says the decision to change locations is for variety’s sake only and not because of any problems with the Vernon-area ski hill as a venue.

“It is a different type of course and we wanted to try something new and special using the amazing village at Sun Peaks,” 365 Sports spokesperson Mel Kurtin says, adding B.C. is full of amazing scenery. “We will be at Sun Peaks for the 2016 season.... We’re not saying we’d never go back to Silver Star. (We) have some fun and unique additions to 5K Foam Fest that we are looking forward to rolling out over the next three years at Sun Peaks.”

The Foam Fest is described as a 'fun core' running event. It promises that people of all fitness levels can participate, get fit and have fun. Fulton says the course is as demanding as one wants it to be, and the obstacles and terrain can prove challenging. However participants complete the 5K at their leisure, deciding whether to run or walk.

Foam Fest is unique in that it allows children to participate alongside adults. The run is open to participants eight years and up and kids seven and under can participate in the Festival Zone free of charge. The Festival Zone will have several family-friendly activities for kids of all ages.
