A late night inferno destroyed a well known Big White area building Friday night.
An A frame home on Porcupine Drive caught fire at around 2 a.m. Dec. 14 and was full destroyed by sunrise, though firefighters stopped it from spreading to other nearby structures.
"Great work by BWFD crews battling a structure fire early this morning," Big White Fire Department posted to its Facebook page. "Deep snow and freezing conditions provided added challenges for our members."
Steep grades, freezing temps, made conditions even tougher, the department added later.
"Crews climbed through deep snow up slippery grades pulling hose in order to protect two exposed structures from radiant heat that had already cracked the windows."
The building was uninhabited.
