Fire crews in Kamloops are fighting a blaze near Tranquille-Criss Creek Road this afternoon.

At about two hectares, Kamloops Fire Rescue and B.C. Wildfire Service firefighters now have the fire west of Fulton Field contained.

Kamloops fire crews initially responded this afternoon, April 16, with bush trucks and water tenders to assess the scene before an engine arrived on the scene.

A spokesperson at Kamloops Fire Rescue could not say at this time exactly when they responded to the scene or when the fire started.

Investigators are not on the scene yet and the cause is unknown.

B.C. Wildfire Service currently lists eight wildfires in the Interior region, the largest of which is about 500 ha at Spahomin Creek, near Douglas Lake.
