Family Vision Fuels Growth

Brent, Jean, John and Brandi Watson have enjoyed continuous growth with their family-run business.

When you have a clear vision, you’re bound to succeed.

That is what  John and Jean Watson believed 32 years ago, and this continues to be the case when it comes to the growth and success of their Kelowna business; Vision Mechanical Ltd.

The plumbing, heating, cooling, HVAC and sheet metal company run by John, Jean,  son Brent, who oversees construction, and daughter Brandi, the operations manager, has seen exponential growth over the years. This is solely based on how they operate their company as well as their connection with the community and support of other local businesses.

“We build a culture of family here. It is important to create a team atmosphere with our staff members. Also our goal is to build long term commitments and relationship with our clients. Our desire is to give people peace of mind and know they can rely on us because we’re not going anywhere,” says Jean.

They’ve come a long way since 1986 when John loaded up the roof of Jean’s green Toyota car with plumbing pipe and headed off for a 10 or 12 hour workday. A plumber by trade, John, along with Jean, ran their business out of their home office for almost three decades, while raising Brent and Brandi.
With their growth, Vision Mechanical Ltd. moved into and renovated a large office on Enterprise way. The homey, welcoming space isn’t typical of what you’d expect of a mechanical company. There are inspirational writings on the walls, and the space is open, bright and tidy. Creating a comfortable environment for people to come to work was important to Jean. Much of the décor in the office was created by a creative staff member.

Including the four family members, the company employs 20, with a fleet of a dozen company vehicles on the road.

As part of the requirement to work with Vision Mechanical Ltd., employees not only must be qualified, certified and trusted, but they must also fit with the atmosphere and vision of the company. This quality and care to customer service has earned Vision Mechanical Ltd. a continuous A+ Better Business Bureau rating and many top Google reviews, says Jean.

Providing free, professional estimates, superior workmanship and materials and 24/7 emergency service keeps customers dedicated.  Making that extra effort with a client such as detecting a carbon monoxide leak using proper detection instruments during a call for a different issue sets Vision Mechanical Ltd. apart.  They also enjoy being able to give back to the local community partnering with non-profit organizations.

Providing Plumbing, HVAC mechanical services for new builds, residential or commercial, and maintenance and repairs, keeps Vision Mechanical Ltd. on an upward swing.

This May, there will be another company added to the family business.  VM Sheet Metal Fabrications will offer a retail sheet metal fabrication shop for everyday and custom fittings to public.“We really are a one stop shop so people don’t have to call in several different companies, when doing a new project or building,” says Jean.

For now, the Watson family is pleased with the growth they’ve experienced and are happy to have piece of mind that one day the company will be run by Brent and Brandi who have an even bigger vision than when John and Jean started 32 years ago.
