KELOWNA – Whether you’ve got a date or arrange or are looking to meet someone new Kelowna has Valentines Day events for everyone.
For those looking to make a new friend for Valentines Day, Lake City Casino is hosting Planet Luv Valentines mixer two days before the most romantic day of the year. The mixer is a unique way to meet other singles in a fun, casual atmosphere. There will be a guest DJ, a magician and a fortune teller on site as well as a novel option where participants can post online-style messages that will be displayed live.
There will also be a “find your match” icebreaker featuring match boxes with a special word inside. Guests are encouraged to work the room until they find someone with the same word before claiming a free drink from the bar. What happens next is up to you. The event runs from 7:30 to midnight Feb. 12. Tickets are $20 at the door.
The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra is presenting Shakespeare in Love Feb. 13 to 15 where actor Maureen Thomas and OSO will bring the Bard’s Midsummer Night’s Dream to life. The company will also explore the tragic side of Shakespeare in a side-by-side performance of Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture.
The Rotary Centre for the Arts is calling all singles and couples to Love Bomb Feb. 14. There will be love potions and tapas, contests, a singles lounge, dance lessons and a photo booth. It’s a night of cheeky, flirty fun, good food, drinks and music. It runs from 8 p.m. until midnight. Prizes will be given out for the cheesiest pick up line.
Big White Ski Resort is the perfect place to celebrate being with someone you love. This year there will be a picnic lunch, chair lift rides and Canada’s highest skating rink. Lovers can also snuggle up on a horse drawn sligh or warm up by the fire after a day on the slopes. There are also special Valentine’s Day packages for any budget.
One of the more unique options for locals is hosted by Habitat Feb. 14. Circus So Hard After Dark will have acrobats, burlesque and singing as well as a shock illusionist and prizes for the best steampunk costume. Tickets for this 19+ event cost $30. There are shows at 6 and 9 p.m.
The Okanagan Mission Hall is also hosting a Valentines Day dance starting at 7:30 Feb. 14. Kelowna’s classic rock dance band Cover to Cover will be playing great tunes all night and there will be a cash bar and food. This event sells out every year so don’t wait to get your tickets. They can be purchased at Green and Bear It and Mikcrate Records for $20.
If you’d rather skip the romance and take in a comedy show instead, Love and Laugh at McCurdy Bowl starts at 7 p.m. Feb. 14.
For $99.00 plus tax per couple, guests get a three course dinner followed by a stand-up comedy show. TV’s Tim Nutt will be one of the comedians so get your tickets soon.
If none of that tickles your fancy come alone or bring a date to Love the Wine You’re With starting Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. Join Kelowna's Lakeshore Wine Route and Sandrine's French Pastry in celebrating the love of wine and chocolate. Take a leisurely drive down Kelowna's gorgeous Lakeshore Wine Route and enjoy complementary, single-origin chocolate specially created to pair with a feature wine at each winery.
These complimentary tastings will be offered all day long at CedarCreek Estate Winery, St. Hubertus, Summerhill Pyramid Winery and Tantalus Vineyards. You don’t have to visit each one but you’ll probably want to.
