Expect a sunny and hot long weekend in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - It looks like Mother Nature will be showing off again this weekend, with hot temperatures and lots of sun expected for the August long weekend.

Yesterday, July 30, the mercury hit 35.7 Celsius and today Environment Canada is calling for temperatures to be even hotter, with a high of 37 C in the forecast. The rest of the weekend highs are expected to be only a degree or two cooler, along with sunny skies.

With a seasonal normal high of 29 C temperatures will be quite a bit above normal this weekend but will still fall short of record temperatures.

According to the weather office the average high temperature for the month through July 30 was 30.8 C with 38.6 C the highest temperature recorded for the month.

If you plan to travel to the Shuswap this weekend expect temperatures in the mid-30s through most of the weekend and the low-30s on Monday. Heading into the Okanagan expect temperatures to reach the mid-30s every day of the long weekend.
