Swiss: 17-year-old girl wounded in Aug. 13 train attack dies

GENEVA - Swiss police say a 17-year-old girl who was wounded Aug. 13 after a man attacked passengers aboard a Swiss train with a knife and burning liquid has died of her injuries.

Police in St. Gallen canton (state) said Wednesday the victim died overnight at a hospital.

She's the third person to die following the attack. A 34-year-old woman and the assailant died the day after the attack.

Seven people including the suspect were wounded in the attack as the train neared the Swiss town of Salez, close to the border with Liechtenstein.

The 27-year-old assailant died before officials could interrogate him, but investigators found no indication that he was linked to any kind of political or religious extremism.
