Early morning house fire in Lower Sahali under investigation

A fire at 298 Morrisey Pl. is under investigation this morning, June 27, 2016.

KAMLOOPS - An investigation is underway after an early morning fire damaged several vehicles and a house on Morrissey Place in Lower Sahali.

Platoon Capt. David Ferguson says the call came in just before 2:30 a.m. today, June 27. When Kamloops Fire Rescue arrived at 298 Morrisey Pl. the carport was fully involved, and the flames had moved to the basement.

Three of the vehicles in the carport were badly damaged by the fire and another one was damaged by heat.

Ferguson says crews contained the fire to the basement and carport, but there is some bad heat and smoke damage in the upstairs area as well.

Ferguson will not say whether the fire was suspicious but did confirm RCMP is now investigating the blaze.
