Dropped pellet gun in Kamloops coffee shop prompts large police response

A suspect was arrested after a report of a dropped handgun in a Kamloops coffee shop Wednesday morning.

A large number of officers were sent to the coffee shop in the 900 block of Columba Street West in the Sahali neighbourhood at approximately 7 a.m., July 10, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP don't identify the coffee shop but there's a Starbuck in that area.

Three suspects were arrested.

“One of the men, who was known to police, was located in possession of a pellet gun, knife, and more than 170 grams of suspected illegal drugs, which were seized,” Kamloops RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. He's currently being held in cells at the detachment.

No word from RCMP as to what charges the suspect faces.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-21821.
