Interior Health issues drug and overdose alert for Penticton

Interior Health is alerting Penticton and South Okanagan drug users to check their drugs after two crystal meth samples recently tested positive for fentanyl.

The health authority says there are increasing reports of overdoses in the community and emergency department over the last three days.

The drug and overdose alert is in effect until Feb. 11.

Naloxone kits and training is available at the Martin Street outreach clinic, Interior Health MHSU and Public Health, South Okanagan Women in Need Society, OneSky Community Resources and Pathway Addiction Resource.

A FTIR drug checking machine will be located at Burdock House on Feb. 6 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Feb. 20, March 5 and 19.
