PENTICTON - It didn’t take long for police to ferret out the details of a car crash north of Penticton last week.
Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says a car crashed on Highway 97 near Sun Oka Beach Provincial Park around 5 a.m., Dec. 17. The driver claimed his pet ferret had gotten under the gas pedal.
The man had been heading north on Highway 97 when he lost control and did several 360s before coming to rest in the southbound ditch.
Wrigglesworth says the driver was unsteady on his feet and the responding officers dectected liquor on his breath.
Police issued a 24 hour driving prohibition and a violation ticket for driving without due care and attention. The vehicle, which was not badly damaged, was towed.
The driver, and the ferret, were given a ride home, Wrigglesworth says.
