Deceased person found in downtown Vernon

A deceased person was found in downtown Vernon early this morning.

Police have cordoned off the area off around the 3300-block of 32 Avenue when the deceased person was found.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, police responded to a report of a sudden death at around 2 a.m., Jan. 5.

"The intersection of 33 Street and 32 Avenue in Vernon is closed to foot and vehicle traffic and we are asking the public to avoid the area and choose alternate routes for travel at this time," the release reads. "The area is expected to remain closed for several hours as officers continue with their investigation."

The RCMP has not released any more information.
