B.C. Mounties investigate deaths of two dogs stolen from Interior home

QUESNEL, B.C. - Mounties in British Columbia's Interior say they suspect foul play in the death of two dogs stolen from a local residence.

Quesnel RCMP Const. Krista Vrolyk says the boxers were among four canines including a dachshund reported taken during a break-in last week.

She says the canines were found when a motorist travelling on a rural highway west of the city on Friday morning spotted a wandering boxer, stopped to retrieve the animal and decided to follow some tracks.

Vrolyk says the bodies were found more than 50 kilometres from the residence, but the dachshund has not been found.

She says foul play is suspected, although there were no obvious signs of trauma, and police believe the incident was targeted.

A veterinarian is trying to determine the causes of death, and Vrolyk says the results are expected later this week.
