WINNIPEG - Two members of Canada's junior curling team at the world championship in Denmark have make an impression away from the ice.
Kyle Doering, who plays second, and alternate Wade Ford were on their way to the rink in Copenhagen this week when they helped save a construction worker.
The two curlers heard a loud bang and went to investigate.
They found the worker who appeared to be in a lot of pain pinned under a large machine.
The equipment had crushed one of the workers legs, but Doering and Ford were able to get him out with the help of a few others.
Doering said instinct took over.
"When we saw him on the ground, we ran over there as fast as we could and tried to help him," he told CJOB radio in Winnipeg.
"We saw the machine ... had got his leg and it looked like he was in a lot of pain from the way he was yelling."
The Canadian team from Manitoba has locked up a spot in the playoffs.
