Fire crews have extinguished a wildfire in the Silver Star foothills above Vernon.
A plume of smoke could be seen from the city this afternoon, May 18.
Crews from both the BX Swan Lake and Vernon fire halls were called to the blaze as it started near the border of their jurisdictions, Christy Poirier with the City of Vernon said.
