KAMLOOPS - A 25-year-old man is facing two charges in connection to a stabbing in Kamloops that left the alleged victim in critical condition.

Jordan Clint Nicol, born 1992, has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, according to online documents. Charges were laid on March 29, the day after a man was found at the Sandman Centre in downtown Kamloops suffering from a stab wound.

RCMP and B.C. Ambulance responded to the scene at approximately 7:40 a.m. March 28, and the man did not share any information with police about his injury.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said at the time officers had searched the area for suspects and witnesses with no success. The next day, an arrest was made and the alleged victim was still in critical condition.

Court documents show Nicol is scheduled for a bail hearing on April 16.

He does have an outstanding matter before the courts, for one charge each of theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000, stemming from November 2017. Court documents show he pleaded guilty to the theft charge on Feb. 8 in Kamloops Provincial Court and on April 12 a date will be fixed for his sentencing.

Police confirmed after the alleged stabbing the suspect was known to police.

The allegations against Nicol surrounding the stabbing incident have not been proven in court.
