Colm Feore, Ted Kotcheff to get special Canadian Screen Awards

December 12, 2013 - 12:07 PM

TORONTO - Film and TV director Ted Kotcheff and actor Colm Feore are getting special honours from the Canadian Screen Awards.

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, which administers the annual bash, says its four academy special award winners also include broadcast pioneer Marge Anthony and a CTV News' app called iGateway.

Kotcheff will be recognized "for outstanding and enduring contributions to Canadian film and television" for an illustrious career that includes "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz," while stage and screen star Feore will get the Earle Grey Award for acting.

Anthony, who died earlier this year, is being posthumously celebrated for outstanding contributions to Canadian film and television while iGateway earns an outstanding technical achievement award for its ability to transfer HD news footage from the field to an editor preparing the material for air.

The Canadian Screen Awards celebrate the best of homegrown film, television and digital talent.

The televised bash is set for March 9 and airs on CBC-TV.
