OTTAWA - In a story published July 22, 2024, The Canadian Press reported that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control had walked back planned changes to its rules around dog importation, stating that as long as the dog has been in a low-risk or rabies-free country for the last six months, it could cross the border with just an import form that can be completed online the day of travel.
In fact, the dogs also need to be microchipped, which is a new requirement.
