Cast and crew hard at work on set of new movie in Kamloops

It is a romantic comedy called Been There All Along and it's the latest in a string of movies filmed in the Tournament Capital.

Cast and crew were set up in Riverside Park in chilly autumn weather today, Oct. 26.

“They keep having to stop and start every time an ambulance or fire engine goes by,” said Lisa Novak, an established Kamloops photographer taking stills and gallery shots for marketing and social media purposes.

Been There All Along is the seventh movie to be filmed by the parent company Champlain Media West in the area in the past year.

The film producers are Kamloops-based Cjay Boisclair of Askem Productions and Jeremy Kulyk of Kulyk Industries.

“I’m not on site very often, I just pop in and out of the sets to take photos,” Novak said. “It is pretty amazing to see how much the film industry is growing here.”

Daniel Leon Pitts of Vancouver is the key gripper on the set, responsible for positioning the production’s cameras and support equipment, and is working with an assistant, Kamloops based Jesse Woods.

“This is a lot of fun, the whole crew is a lot of fun,” Pitts said. “Jesse is here to keep me organized and look after the gear. I’ll ask where a piece of equipment is and he is there to point out it is right in front of me.

“I like working in different cities and seeing new things.”

Most of the crew is Kamloops based and the locations, people and businesses in the city are being filmed as much as possible throughout the string of productions.

The last project the crew took on is called Rancher 101 which they filmed at the end of August.

Boisclair was unable to comment on Been There all Along or release any plot details but did say it would be released sometime next spring.
