Car hits home, pole; Vernon police investigate possible impaired driver

A vehicle crossed two yards and hit a residence before hitting a power pole in Vernon Saturday night and now the driver is under investigation for impaired driving.

Vernon RCMP say the unidentified driver was trapped in the vehicle following the collision in the 2000 block of 43 Avenue around 6:40 p.m. The vehicle was disabled and the driver had to be set free by firefighters.

"An impaired driving investigation was initiated when officers at the scene," said RCMP Const. Chris Terleski. "Based on their observations, determined the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was affected by alcohol."

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
