SICAMOUS – After a dangerous police chase, a Manitoba man was arrested by Sicamous RCMP on Jan. 18 for uttering threats.
Sicamous RCMP were notified that a Manitoba resident driving a grey BMW with Manitoba plates was in the Rogers Pass area. The man was wanted by Lake Country RCMP for uttering threats, according to a press release from RCMP.
The Sicamous RCMP located the BMW driving erratically in the Malakwa area. RCMP officers deployed a spike belt after observing it driving westbound at an extreme speed in a dangerous manner.
The driver of the vehicle continued driving with police in pursuit.
“The BMW turned onto Highway 97 from Highway 1 where it was involved in a rear end collision with an SUV in the Sicamous roundabout. Both air bags deployed on the BMW rendering it inoperable. RCMP officers were able to safely arrest the suspect without further incident,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk in the release.
Charges are pending against the 27-year-old man from Manitoba. He was held in custody with charges of uttering threats and driving offences.
