Bundle up today but you'll need shades by Sunday in Kamloops and Okanagan

There’s a chance of snow mixed with rain through much of the Kamloops and Okanagan regions today, Dec. 14 but a sunny day is forecast for Sunday.

The snowfall warning for Highway 1 from Rogers Pass to Eagle Pass continues through this afternoon with a total of 15 cm expected to accumulate.

Another snowfall warning has been issued for the North Columbia and North Thompson with with up to 15 cm of snow expected into this afternoon.

The Environment Canada online forecast calls for a high of 1 Celsius in Kamloops today with periods of snow mixed with rain into the afternoon and an overnight low of -1 C.

It is expected to get to 3 C on Friday and 4 C on Saturday with some clearing. Sunday is forecast to drop to 1 C but with sunshine.

Normally, high temperatures are around the freezing mark this time of year with overnight lows down to -5 C to -6 C.

Vernon is expected to get up to 2 cm of snow today with a high of 1 C. Skies should clear through the weekend but highs will only get to 1 C with overnight lows down to -3 C for the next few days.

The forecasts for Kelowna and Penticton call for a mix of snow and rain today with a high temperature of 4 C, dropping to -3 C tonight in Kelowna and 1 C in Penticton.

The skies are expected to gradually clear into the weekend leading to a sunny day Sunday. Highs should be in the 0 C to 1 C range with overnight lows only down to -3 C through to Sunday.

Cloudy skies with temperatures a bit above freezing are expected next week.
