KAMLOOPS - Police in Kamloops are searching for a suspect vehicle that was last seen heading north on the Yellowhead Highway after crashing into a police car.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says police were in city limits when they attempted to pull over a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign at approximately 1:30 p.m. today, Nov. 22.
The suspect vehicle, described as a white, dirty SUV with possible front-end damage, refused to stop and made its way onto the Yellowhead Highway with police following closely behind.
But Shelkie says the vehicle was travelling at a high speed and going in and out of oncoming traffic, forcing the police to back off the pursuit for public safety.
Officers made their way to Rayleigh, where they spotted the suspect vehicle on the side of the road. Two cruisers attempted to block the vehicle in.
The suspect vehicle rammed the police cruiser on its passenger side before fleeing, Shelkie says. There were no injuries in that incident.
Shelkie says the vehicle was last seen heading north on the Yellowhead Highway past Rayleigh.
If you see a dirty, white SUV speeding or driving erratically, you're asked to call 911.
