NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. - A six-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with cuts and bruises after falling down a 12-metre embankment along a popular hiking trail in North Vancouver, B.C.
Jason DeRoy of North Vancouver's Fire and Rescue Services says the incident took place in the early afternoon and in an area where the Baden Powell Trail meets the B.C. Mountaineering Club Trail, close to the Grouse Grind.
He says the boy was with his mom and one of her friends when the accident happened but doesn't know why the child fell.
DeRoy says fire and ambulance crews attended, and rescuers found the boy with a cut on his head and bruises and scratches on his back.
The boy was sore but in good condition, and DeRoy says he was then taken to BC Children's Hospital.
DeRoy says the incident could have been a lot worse, and he reminded people to be cautious and prepared while on hiking trails.
