The body of an Oliver man, who is presumed to have drowned in Osoyoos Lake, was found yesterday.
Oliver resident Tom Dennehy, 41, was out boating on July 25. While playing fetch with his dogs, one became distressed and Dennehy went to go help. While in the water trying to save his dog, he went under and failed to resurface.
“The Osoyoos RCMP were in regular communication during the search with Tom’s mom and brother who traveled from France and the United Kingdom, and will continue to offer our support to his family after they return home,” Sgt. Jason Bayda said in a press release.

“Tom was well known in the community and the Osoyoos RCMP would like to express our deepest condolences to Tom’s family and friends.”
Dennehy’s body was located and recovered around 10:30 a.m. yesterday, Aug. 3.
With the help of side scan sonar, the RCMP E Division and National Division under water recovery team found it 24 metres deep and approximately 120 metres from where he was last seen.
